Valentine's Day and Birthdays

For the past month, Bryndon was on a pretty crazy rotation at the IMC hospital working with Shock Trauma patients. He had to work a 30-hour shift every 3rd day, so he didn't get a lot of sleep. He had one day off a week, and his "post-call" days were mostly for sleeping. Needless to say, I'm glad he's done with that rotation. And the great thing is that he may never have to do a 30-hour shift again! The field he's going into doesn't have to do over-night call, and if he every is on call, it'll be from home and they'll mostly just ask him about a patient, etc.

He is now doing a one-month rotation in Radiology, which offers a very nice lifestyle. He doesn't have to be there until 8am and gets off around 4pm or so! That is SOOOOO great. And we find out in 2 1/2 weeks where we'll be for Residency starting in July, for the next 4 years! I get butterflies every time I think about it! March 16th is Match Day, so we'll make sure to spread the word to family and friends when we find out!

I wanted to share some pictures of what we did for each other on Valentine's Day...

Bryndon wrote all over our shower/tub walls with shower crayons with hearts and cute little notes. :) I thought that was fun.

A while ago Bryndon had joked about putting pictures of us kissing all over the house and I took that idea and ran with it. He never thought I'd actually DO it! :) I had a couple of pictures blown up from when we were dating years ago, but the rest were kissing pictures from our wedding day, engagement photos, the day we got engaged, and even one on the Eiffel Tower! I think I printed about 25 of them and taped them up all over the walls in our living/dining room. He thought that was fun.

The big red poster-thing in the picture below was actually an over-sized Valentine's card I wrote in for him. He thought the whole time that it was just a poster, but when we exchanged cards, I had him go open it up and read the message I had written inside, with it right on the wall. :)

We joked with friends about our PDA all over the place without us even touching each other. :)

He also gave me flowers: a dozen orange roses that were absolutely gorgeous, and also a few daffodils to go with them because those are my favorite flowers. :) So thoughtful!

Then a couple of weeks after Valentine's Day we both had our birthdays! Mine is the 26th and Bryn's is the 28th. We did a lot of celebrating with family and by ourselves. We decided to go shoot some arrows at this archery place in Sugarhouse that we've been wanting to go to, which was really fun! I just ended up with a sore left shoulder because those are some muscles I don't use as often. :) It was cool though.

We had dinner with my family, and a few days later we had dinner with his family. For my birthday Bryndon cooked a superb meal of salmon, brown rice, green beans and salad, with Martinelli's to drink. Then on his birthday I made him brown rice again (that's a staple at our house), asperagus, garlic bread, Martinelli's, and he requested to be able to cook some delicious steaks! They were both delicious meals and it was fun to celebrate with our own little family! So we're both one year older and hopefully wiser too. :)

The best and biggest present we got (on Bryndon's birthday) was a new car! It's not literally new, but new to us! We had been looking for a new one for a little while because Bryn's car was driving him nuts with some problems, so he found us a great deal on a salvage title Nissan Altima that'll suit us just fine! The funny thing is that when I would ask what Bryndon wanted for his birthday, he always said "a new car", and he ended up getting one! :) Happy Birthday, Bryn. Thanks for being born!

No Excuse

I don't really have an excuse to post more pictures except that
we think Avery is getting more beautiful every day!

Momma's girl

New overalls that are already getting small for her :(

Our new favorite headband/bow (thanks aunt Elisabeth!)

Melt your heart

Tired of putting on a show for the camera...

First Valentine's Day outfit-- thanks Grammy!

She is always grabbing her feet, pulling off her socks with her gums (soon to be teeth), and putting her toes in her mouth whenever she can!

We were given the same pajamas in newborn and 6 month size, so I took a picture of her again with the same jamies and hat on to see how similar or different she looks (above at 6 mo, below at maybe 6 weeks?). Definitely similar, but she has definitely changed too. She just looks more grown up to me (and is a lot bigger, although in the pictures you can't really tell).

Sweet girl. We adore you.

Avery is growing up!

Our babe is growing! She's trying all sorts of exciting things, like rolling over and eating solid foods (see below)! She started rolling just a few weeks ago, and is getting pretty good at it. She can now roll from tummy to back and from back to tummy, but not always when she wants to. It's a little unpredictable, but when Bryndon lured her with his shiny watch (which she's obsessed with), she made an extra effort and rolled toward it! It's fun to see her learning so many new things!

My mom made this beautiful hat for her, which doesn't fit quite yet, but that noggin is growing!

Avery wanted to get in the picture of the totally cool and cute and fun cupcake platter (which is currently being used as a fruit platter for lack of cupcakes) that Aunt Kari and Uncle Jake made for our family for Christmas!

Happy girl! She's wearing the cute "Just Chillin'" onesie her Aunt Elisabeth gave her. She likes wearing blue, even though this is one of the only articles of clothing she has in that color!

FIRST SOLID FOOD!!! (If you can call watery rice cereal a solid...) This was so fun! We started her on it just a few days ago. She's 5 months old now, so we figure it's a good time to begin. If you see a kind of concerned look on her face, that's the face she makes (and even more dramatic) with the first bite every time we feed her. She has to remember that it tastes different than mommy's milk. :)

She is really starting to like it! The first few times she'd hold her jaw tightly together, just allowing a piece of her tongue to stick out when we'd try to put a spoon in her mouth. But now she's getting to be a pro! Look at the happiness on her face! :)

I love this face. Check out those huge round eyes. I wonder who she gets that from...

Naked baby in the bath! (Still being as modest as possible.) What a little lady.

She loves spending time with her daddy.

Christmas After Christmas with the Williams

We had a fun time with the entire Clayton and Denise Williams Clan (16 of us, including Claytie!) the week after Christmas. Here are a few pictures of our Nativity (kind of hap-hazard this year) and then some pics of the 3 newest grandkids!

This shepherd didn't know why she had to wear something on her head. :)

Mary riding the donkey, her dad, with other supportive figures

Wise men (and women) bringing gifts, and other such events...

Good donkey

More events that cannot be named... (because I'm not sure what's going on here)

Luke with a cape on (or some sort of costume)

Wise women :) ... or maybe shepherds

Singing "under the tree"

The shepherd with one of the wise men or something else with a costume

Cousies!!!

It's kind of amazing how they all look pretty close in size (mostly Avery and Sadie)

What a gentleman! Henry offering his arm to Avery :)

This is where they started getting a little too close for comfort... arms flailing

Such good friends... Avery and Sadie linking arms :)
Fun stuff! It was great to see all the out-of-towners that we miss so much!! And Sadie's blessing was beautiful. We're so happy to have been here for it!

Hatch Family Christmas Eve Nativity

The Hatches all got together for Christmas Eve and acted out the Nativity story. It was fun to see everyone dressed up and to sing Christmas songs together! The kids played their parts so well! :) We only missed Shan and Katia and their family, but we were thinking of them and we hope they had a wonderful Christmas!!!
